The stock y-pipe is 1.75"! We could not believe that infinity would use such a small pipe on a 330+ hp car! This y-pipe makes some nice power. We dynoed 267HP stock and 272HP after the install. We got 5WHP from it but we got 10 under the curve! What is under the curve ? Say at 4k rpm you make 200hp. Under the curve at that same RPM you will be making 215hp etc. This system gives you some nice down low and mid range power. Expect to churp 2nd gear now. This is the biggest restriction in the system! We tried this only with OEM mufflers. Idle and cruise sound the same. When you floor it the sound does go up a bit but nothing major. Our setup comes with mandrel bent dual 2.5" piping and it merges into a 2.5" pipe. Dont be fooled by bigger is better. We dont have a 3"flange at the rear because it will REDUCE (YES REDUCE) flow if not coupled to a 3" midpipe back! Right now no one that we know makes it. If you have a special request for size let us know. We offer this in aluminized steel and stainless steel. Aluminized steel is what most oem manufactures use. It is superior vs mild steel and resists rust. Your OEM muffler is aluminized steel. Pictured above is the same pipe, one is ceramic coated with paint and the other is bare. We can make yours black too if you wish. We have a polished T304 stainless version too, you can select that in the options below. IF YOUR AFTERMARKET Y PIPE HAS IDENTICAL BENDS TO THE STOCK ONE, THEN ITS A CHINA PIECE. BIGGER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER! SOME OF THESE CHINA PIECES HAVE A 3" FLANGE. YOU DONT WANT A 3" FLANGE CONNECTED TO A SMALLER FLANGE WHICH THE STOCK MIDPIPE OR GREDDY MIDPIPE ETC HAVE, THE EXHAUST WILL SLAM INTO THE SMALLER FLANGE. YOU CAN ONLY GO FROM A SMALLER FLANGE TO A BIGGER, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! SO IF YOU SEE 6HP GAINS CHANCES ARE ITS A FAKE CLAIM. |
